Another scorcher today - so spent it beside a natural pool up on Dartmoor and then back to a friend's house. This is what the house looks like through thick sunglasses on a very, very hot day.
The photographs in this blog are attempts to capture the feelings that are provoked by the places where I spend much of my time. I have tried to use light, shade, colour contrasts and the representation of movement that can be captured in a picture to convey the sense of the sublime that we experience in the natural environment. I first twigged that this was what most photography was about (capturing feelings), it occurred to me that this was the aim of some of the Impressionist artists at the start of the 20th Century. I can't claim to be a photographic Renoir - but I'm enjoying the challenge.
Currently resident in Somerset and Oxfordshire in the UK with some deeply ingrained African dirt. I just love the outdoors - which is a vital part of my life. I am doing up my Georgian house in Taunton - but (much) more slowly than it's value decreases. The garden looks good though! I take things very literally - and people tell me I have the communication problem!!
