This time of year.....



At this time of year the heather and the gorse is in flower and the grass that grows amongst them is turning a lovely yellow. It's hard to capture the effect this has - particularly as the gorse has a heady scent and, when the sun is out, the insect activity is very high. There is usually a slight breeze which you might see in the blurring of the grass seed heads. I found this characteristic spot beside the pathway and up against the fence in the picture - very hot and unexposed. You can see the two types of heather we have and the Blackdown Hills on the horizon to the south.
